
WHO ARE THE AUTHORSHugh Dunsterville was educated at Harrow School and obtained an Engineering Degree at Bristol University. While living in Bristol he met David Fry, whose father was the Chairman of the Fry's chocolate company and they co-designed and co-built the original Freikaiserwagen.
On 25th July 1936, his graduation day, he drove the car at its maiden event at the Backwell Speed Hill Climb. In 1937 he built another special, which he called Borborygmus, and, with David's cousin Joe Fry, the three of them campaigned the two specials and other cars in motor sports events. In 1938 Hugh enlisted in the army (RAOC and REME) rising to the rank of Colonel before retiring in 1958 and taking a directorship in a West Country agricultural engineering firm. He owned a 1935 M.G.PA Midget for three years and a 1938 Jaguar saloon for 20 years. He married Anne Larken in 1938 and has four children, of whom Rob is one, 10 grandchildren and one grand-child. He lives near Warminster in Wiltshire. Rob Dunsterville was educated at Harrow School and obtained a Diploma in Commerce at the City of London College. After serving a management traineeship in London he emigrated to Australia and joined the finance industry in stockbroking and PR. He continued a career in commerce in the fields of PR, marketing and exhibition management in London, Sydney and Singapore. He owns and still regularly drives a 1954 M.G.TF which he bought 40 years ago. He married Denise Hooper in 1973 and they have a son and a daughter. They live near Forster on the Mid North Coast of New South Wales, 300 kilometres north of Sydney.
